Bowel movements after WLS.

You’d think after re-routing the colon, re-working your digestive flow, and telling what to take for vitamins, they’d say hey… your colon needs help too. What?! well… when you’ve had the surgery you learn to live with the…. unhappy colon. One that gives you the runs 2 hours after eating, or stops up for days after eating. So I’ve spent the last 8 years – living with the un predictable, miserable yet minimal side effect of teh surgery. A colon that has a mind of it’s own. I’ve seen my GP, I’ve seen the internest, I’ve got the hemroids (even though that’s thought to be started because of the babies…yeah… what about the 6 years between them?!)…. everyone said – you’ve had a gasteric bypass we’ll deal with the consequences. So, I don’t drink milk in the morning, and try not to leave the house until… I go… if I’m lucky I go with ease… most days it’s not so much. Then… I’d started watching the ads for “probiotic yogurt”…. fine print says after 2 weeks… which meant something like 30 servings. Yum. Yuck. Ewe. Then…After a nasty infection wiped me out of all things good bad and ugly. A homeopathic meds lady said – um….. you really need to be taking a probiotic… but they are not all the same. I looked at her like yeah, it makes since, I guess I’ll do it till after I get off this antibiotic that killed everything living in my system (for 30 days no less). So I started taking the pro-biotic she said. Nothing. A week later. I had told myself – it’s just one of those things I need to do, cus I can’t get my colon out of wack right now. Then I noticed something. A regularity to my colon. A consistant, regularity. Yeah, I still have flare ups based on what I ate (like ice cream, fried chicken, greasey anything)… but…. the beast has been tamed. The roids are healing… the gas is minimal… the fear is going away…. So then I’m thinking…. Why didn’t anyone – doctors, nutritionists, internists, mom who’s a nurse, dad who’s always said it ain’t right….. why didn’t anyone say – take a pro-biotic?! Then I was watching the Rachel Ray show. A guy came on talking about all things colon. He made perfect sense. He explained…. everything I’d discovered in the past month…. WOW! So. If you’re having trouble there…. give a good pro-biotic a chance… remember you get what you pay for with vitamins…. so go to a reputable place and ask for reputable brands. If you need me to post the one I’m investing in… let me know!

I would like to know the brand of probiotics that you take. I’ve tried so many and I’m not sure which ones work the best. Would like to find one that works better than any of the ones I’ve tired. I had MGB 10 years ago.

Hi Sorry for the long delay. But I highly recommend the pro defense line by garden of life… the ultra is a 90 day supply for about $40. As in, give it one week, if you’re really clogged, 2 a day…. and in about a week.. Presto Magico… It makes me like clockwork… and trustme… I tried other brands too… dozens over the years…. this one… a must have for all you no goers!
